David Bell is a social media and communications strategist who has worked for acclaimed rock band R.E.M. since 1998. As director and manager of the band's social media and web content, he has assisted R.E.M. in promoting their support for various political, environmental, and humanitarian causes ranging from the Global Zero movement and the Vote for Change Tour to the international effort to free Aung San Suu Kyi, Moveon.org's Health Care initiative, the Voice Project, Net Neutrality, and Environment America. He also has helped highlight and promote the band's partnerships with such diverse organizations as Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Oxfam, Make Trade Fair, Live 8, and Doctors Without Borders.
David received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Georgia. He lives in Athens, Georgia.
