Doug has spent his career at the intersection of politics and media with more than a decade of experience working with top political advocacy organizations and in Democratic politics.
Prior to joining FitzGibbon Media, Doug was a Senior Vice President at Fenton Communications where he led the firm’s political advocacy practice area and managed the Washington office.
At Fenton, Doug worked to develop winning communication strategies with some of the nation’s largest progressive advocacy organizations including MoveOn.org, Democracy for America, United Auto Workers, United Food and Commercial Workers, Social Security Works, Campaign for America's Future, Netroots Nation and Progressive Change Campaign Committee.
Doug also worked as the lead communication consultant to the progressive coalitions, Health Care for America Now and Americans for Financial Reform, that helped pass the historic health care and financial reform legislation. Doug developed strategies to help progressives (who at times were being outspent 300:1) break through, define the issues and win.
Doug specializes strategic communications, media relations and paid media and has extensive relationships with top political media outlets and regularly places clients on CNN and MSNBC and in The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post and the Associated Press.
Before joining Fenton, Doug worked for years on Capitol Hill and in Democratic politics including working on House, Senate and Presidential campaigns.
